Mr. John (Johnny) Roy Hire, Jr. age 77 of Clemmons, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025. He was born October 21, 1947, in Forsyth County to the late John Roy Hire, Sr. and Nellie Mae Calcutt Hire. John was a graduate of West Forsyth High School class of 1966, a veteran of the U.S Army serving during the Vietnam War and had retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 39 years of service. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Frances Hire Gentry; and his father and mother-in-law, Thomas K. and Lera Carter Marshall. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Madeline Marshall Hire; one brother, Jeff Hire (Melissa); one sister, Becky Akers; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnny was a lifetime member of Bass Masters and a former volunteer fireman for the Clemmons Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves and spending time with friends.

Many thanks to all his friends, family, and neighbors for all their loving support. A special thank you to our friends Mike Wall, John Wall, Doug Brandon, and Bill Vogler for all their help, support, and love through this difficult time. Madeline would like to thank the nurses and staff at Trellis Supportive Care.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 30, 2025, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory by Pastor Joe Fulk. The family will receive friends following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at woundedwarriorproject.org or Trellis Supportive Care of Davie County.
