John Joseph Benfield II "Fat Papaw", 71, passed away on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025.
John was a graduate from Manual High School. He was a member at Cravens AC, Shawnee Post 193 and the Sons of Legion (SAL). He was a man who could do it all and was a father figure to many.
John enjoyed riding his Harleys, fishing, boating, gardening, and was well travelled. He loved hanging out with his family and friends. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded by his wife, Susan Elizabeth Woodward Benfield; parents, George H. Benfield Sr. "Bus" and Alma L. Adams Benfield "Lil"; brother, George Benfield Jr.; sister, Jeannie Moore (John); and son-in-law, Dana Hicks.
He is survived by his children, John J. Benfield III (Rachel), Brian S. Benfield (Amanda), Greg M. Benfield (Heather) and Keth E. Hicks; grandchildren, Cameron, Conner, Madisen (Dakota), Addison (Cooper), Scotty, Drew, Nick, Lilli, Amanda (Raj) and Matthew (Dionne); great- grandchildren, Isaiah, Joseph, Elijah, Dexter and Cannon; sisters, Frankie Young (Rick) and Jo Singleton (Mike); brother, Ricky Mohan (Diane).
John's memorial service will be at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 26th at Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home, 4832 Cane Run Rd. with a memorial visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
