John "Butchie" Karas, age 79, of King of Prussia, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Paoli Hospital. Born in Norristown, John was the son of the late John J. Karas and the late Jane (nee Zoltowski) Karas, the devoted husband since April 24, 1965 of Ann (nee Ewing) Karas, the loving father of Chip (Maria) Karas and Jeffrey Karas, both of King of Prussia, the adoring grandfather of Morgan Karas, Audrey Karas and Gwendolyn Karas and the beloved brother of Janice (Tom) Hackett of Mont Clare, Joe (Connie) Karas of Colorado Springs, CO, Donna Karas of Sanatoga and Joyce (Brett) Booty of Texas. In addition, John is survived by his many cherished nieces and nephews as well as many cousins, including his "best buddy," Bill Smith.
John was a graduate of Upper Merion High School, Class of 1961 and went on to become a union electrician, working with I.B.E.W. Local 380 for many years, until he retired in 2001. In his younger years, John enjoyed deer hunting. As he grew older, he could often be found on the golf course, at a casino or out with his wife deep sea or fresh water fishing. Even losing his left leg could not keep him off of the golf course. He became a member of Eastern Amputee Golf Association (EAGA) and was able to continue spending time on the links with his friends.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family would appreciate memorial donations to EAGA, 2015 Amherst Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18015-5606. Arrangements are by The Bernard S.
