JOHN C. "JONAS" KASPERAVICIUS, 75, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Elizabeth, NJ, and lived in Jackson Twp., for many years before settling in Whiting 2 years ago.
John received his master's degree in engineering from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT). He worked for Sytex in Eatontown for 20 years as a private Government Contractor supporting Ft. Monmouth and the Pentagon, and 9 years as a Government employee for the Army at Picatinny Arsenal. He most recently worked as an Engineer for CSA in Toms River supporting Lakehurst Naval Base.
He was a fan of the NY Giants, and Manchester United. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and AFCEA. He was a long-time coach, field supervisor, and referee for the Jackson Vics soccer club. He also coached his son's soccer and basketball teams. His favorite past time was spending time with family, and his son's friends, who he lovingly considered his sons and daughters.
John was predeceased by his parents, Kazys and Eugenia Kasperiunas, and his brother-in-law, James Kropa. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Kropa) Kasperavicius, of 49 years; his son, Matthew Kasperavicius; his brother, Anthony Kasperiunas; his brothers- in-laws, Joseph and Donna Kropa, Stephen Kropa and his wife Caroline; his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Kropa, Mary Gennace, and her husband, Sam, Ellen Murray, and her husband Todd; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. John is also lovingly survived by his sons of the heart, The Basement Boys.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 1-4 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. His funeral service will follow at 4 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York City, NY 10087-7106, and would be greatly appreciated.
