John M. Klemencic, 88, originally of Bridgeville PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2024 after a battle with leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Iona Louise Boyer; daughters Joy (John) Orndoff and Joni (Chantal) Klemencic; two grandchildren, Taylor (Chelsea) Sprowls and Julia (Cameron) Davis; three great grandchildren, Delaney, Cyrus and Warren; a sister Esther (Bill) Phillips; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Klemencic, and many special aunts, uncles and friends.
John is a 1954 graduate of Bridgeville High School. He entered into the banking business for two years before serving in the U.S. Army for four years and the Active Reserves for two years. He re-entered the banking field for another 20+ years before starting his own home service business in 1984. His business motto was, "We do it like it's our own home", serving many satisfied customers for 23 years.
He was very active in civic duties and his church, serving as treasurer for many organizations.
In 2009, John and Iona moved from Bridgeville, PA to their present home in Virginia Beach, VA.
John was a loyal and dedicated husband and father who enjoyed fishing, camping, bluegrass music, playing poker, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, his words were meaningful.
Contributions can be made in John's memory to the Association for Research and Enlightenment/ARE (edgarcayce.org), Beach Fellowship Church (beachfellowship.com), or Tidewater Bluegrass Society (tidewaterbluegrass.org.)
A Celebration of Life service will be held:
