John J. Kohler, Jr., 81, of West Chester, PA, passed away October 6, 2025.

Born November 5, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late John J. and Marian (nee McKernan) Kohler.

John graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote in 1961 and went on to study at LaSalle University for two years before enlisting in the reserves. After his service, he joined the family business, John C. Kohler Company, a mechanical contracting firm founded by his grandfather in 1928, where he worked with dedication and pride, eventually serving as Vice President until his retirement in 2004. He was also a proud member of the Steamfitters Local 420 Union, where he formed lasting friendships and upheld the values of hard work. John met his wife, Kathy, in Ocean City, New Jersey — a town that held a special place in their hearts. They married at Atlantic CIty Country Club on June 14, 1975, and raised four children — Tracey, John (JJ), Susan, and Katie — all of whom grew up in Wayne, PA and spent summers at their home in Ocean City. John had a deep love for the ocean and spent countless weekends aboard the family's beloved 46-foot Hatteras sportfishing boat, the Ketch-A-Lot, making memories with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club and relished the camaraderie and excitement of fishing tournaments. John also had a lifelong passion for Corvettes, owning 11 throughout his life, both vintage and modern. His most prized possession was his 1969 blue Corvette, which he took on joy rides with a smile on his face and the top off — a car that perfectly reflected his vibrant spirit and appreciation for classic American craftsmanship. John’s 11 grandchildren loved to take rides in “The Vet.” He also spent weekends at antique car shows showcasing his stellar car.

John was the beloved husband of Kathryn (nee Kulzer) Kohler; loving father of Tracey Costello (Jonathan), John Kohler III (Jen), Susan Burns (Tom), and Katie Casey (Kevin); adoring grandfather of Carly, Carter and James Costello; Jessica and Jason Kohler, Alyson, Connor and Owen Burns; Ryan, Kayla and Patrick Casey; and dear brother of Marianne Molinari and Kevin Kohler.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Rd, West Chester, PA 19380, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
