John D. Kotzman

John D. Kotzman, age 64, of York, passed away on April 4, 2024, at home.
John was born in York on April 16, 1959, and was the son of the late Joseph G. and Sara A. (Mentzer) Kotzman. He graduated from York Catholic High School, Class of 1977, where he was active in wrestling and football for the West York Boy's Club and York Catholic. After graduation, He worked as a contractor for most of his life until his illness. John was an exceptional athlete; notably, in 2018, he completed a solo bicycle ride on "The Great Divide Trail" in just five weeks. He was an avid runner, cyclist, triathlete, hunter, fisherman, and loved backpacking. Embracing the great outdoors with passion and enthusiasm. Always the innovator and free thinker never letting a day go to waste. He will be missed by many.
John is survived by his sons Joshua Kotzman and Jake Kotzman; his siblings Mary Darchuck, Ann Hoke, Joseph Kotzman, James Kotzman, Kathy Kotzman, Beverly Wood, Mark Kotzman, and Lisa Brenneman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service in celebration of John's life will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of East York, 3670 E. Market St., York, PA 17402 with The Very Rev. John Bateman, J.C.L., V.F., Pastor of St. Patrick Parish in York, officiating. Interment will be held privately at Holy Savior Cemetery in York. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
