John Kubera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Mar. 25, 2026.
John Dennis Kubera, 72, of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born on June 14, 1953, John lived a full and meaningful life defined by his love for family, his strong work ethic, and his vibrant personality. John grew up in Hopewell Township, PA, where he met his wife, Patricia (Zapko) Kubera, who lived just a few streets away. The two married in 1978 and went on to build a life together, raising four children and welcoming three grandchildren. He graduated from Hopewell High School in 1971 and went on to attend Penn State University, where he studied business and was an active member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. He later earned a Master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Saint Francis University. Throughout his career, John held a variety of roles that took him and his family across the United States before they ultimately returned to the Pittsburgh area in 1995. He concluded his professional journey as the Human Resources Director for the Pittsburgh branch of Valspar, retiring in 2013. John had a passion for golf and was a proud member of the Senior Men's League at Lindenwood Golf Club. He enjoyed following the stock market, making friendly sports bets with friends, and trying his luck gambling. He spent his downtime watching the History Channel or sports, and music often filled his home, usually accompanied by one of his favorite sweet treats. Above all, John's greatest joy was his family. He was a caring husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather who would do anything for those he loved. His outgoing, charismatic, and charming nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. John is survived by his wife, Patricia (Zapko) Kubera; his children, John Michael (Kelly), Mark (Chelsie), David, and Natalie (Andrew); his granddaughters, Katarina, Lola, and Charli; and his brother, Joe (Leslie) Kubera. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and John Kubera; his brother, Jim Kubera; and his sister, Jane Kubera. He will be deeply missed by many, but his memory will be cherished and his love carried on forever. He will remain forever our friend, husband, dad, and pap.

A celebration of life in John's honor will be held at a later date. Those who wish to attend are warmly invited to reach out to [email protected] for details as they become available.
