John worked 44 dedicated years at the Algona branch of Iowa State Bank. His devotion to his family and friends was even more apparent as he constantly stepped forward to help others and give back to his community. Forever an Iowa Hawkeye fan, John also resided with Ardis Ann (Tapper) Lande, his loving wife of 62 years, in Iowa City so they could support the Hawks as they enjoyed nearly every home football game with season tickets for the last 30 years.
On Friday, December 8, a celebration of life was held at Gay and Ciha Funeral Home from 1 - 3 p.m. located at 2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City, Iowa. A celebration of life will also be held from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, at First Lutheran Church, located at 226 N Putnam St, Algona, IA. A private family burial will follow. Instead of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to First Lutheran Church in Algona.
When asked how he was doing, John's always optimistic response, right up to his final days was, "Purrrrfect". May heaven's pearly gates open purrrrfectly wide to welcome him into eternal rest with our Lord God and Savior.
