John A. Laskody, 87 of Moon Township, formerly of Oakdale, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 in Harmony at Diamond Ridge.
John was born in Christmas Day, December 25, 1937 in Denbo, a son of the late Paul and Frances Bohna Laskody.
Mr. Laskody was a United States Army Veteran. He was also a retired elevator mechanic for Pittsburgh Elevator Co. He was an Oakdale man through and through. He loved his small town and the people in it. John was an Oakdale Hose Co. volunteer fireman. He also was a Oakdale softball coach. He loved giving back to his community in any way he could. His love for people was special. John enjoyed a simple conversation with friends or even a stranger on the street. He was a social butterfly and could make a new friend anywhere. Later in life he enjoyed a round of golf and more recently sitting down with a good book.
Surviving are his children, Tracy (David) Langley, Deanna (Ron Maple) Laskody and Amy Laskody, grandchildren, Erin and Megan Langley, brother-in-law, Mickey Sahady, sister-in-law, Earlene Finley, niece, Kristen, nephews, Grant and Drew, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy C. Darney Laskody and sister, Barbara Sahady.
A special and heartfelt thank you to Suncrest Hospice and Harmony at Diamond Ridge. You all went about and beyond caring for our Dad and we could not be more thankful to you all.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10 am at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, Noblestown. Inurnment will occur at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full Military Honors on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11 am. All are asked to arrive at the cemetery between 10:45-10:50 am.
