John Lawver, age 44 of Mason, WI passed away peacefully with his family near his side on Monday, December 23, 2024. John was born on November 23, 1980 in Ashland, WI the son of Robin Lawver, Sr. and Tammy Lindquist Benabides.
John was known for his kindness, helpfulness and artistry. John loved to work with his hands, and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and talented woodworker. He loved making music and was known as "Iron Johnny". He performed at many open mic events in central and northern Wisconsin. He performed covers and original songs that he wrote himself. John deeply loved his family and close friends and was always finding ways to help others and show that devotion.
John is survived by his parents, Tammy Benabides and Robin (Linda) Lawver, Sr.; son, Wesley J. Lawver; brothers, Nathan (Christine) Lawver and Robin (Sarah) River; sister, Grace Lawver Butterfield; niece, Elizabeth; nephews, Liam, Isaac, Gaius, Odin and James.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wesley and Barbara Lindquist; paternal grandparents, Theodore and Elizabeth Lawver; and his sister, Elizabeth Lawver.
A celebration of life will take place from 2 – 5 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Mountain Funeral Home in Mellen, WI. A prayer service will take place at 5 p.m., with Arleigh vonSeggern as officiant.
A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
