John G. Leatherwood, Sr.,71, of Millville passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at his home under the care of his family and hospice.
Born in Bridgeton to the late Samuel Leatherwood and Desmond Craig Leatherwood, he had been the companion of Vanessa Parker for over 34 years.
John had most recently been employed as a ware-housemen for Gerresheimer Glass Inc. Prior to that, he had worked for Clement Pappas for many years, Seabrook Brothers & Sons and as a painter. He was a workaholic and would work as many hours as it took to provide for his loved ones. His favorite past time was fishing, especially at his favorite spots like Fortescue, the Cohansey River, Greenwich, Turkey Point and especially in West Virginia. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working on cars and junkin.
He is survived by; his children, John G. Leatherwood Jr. (Kelly) of Commercial Twp., Adele Leatherwood (Robert) of Heislerville and Vera Dover of Millville; his companion, Vanessa Parker; grandchildren, Shyan, Jada, John III, Savannah, Gregory, Alexander, Kayla and Alaina; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Samuel and Desmond Leatherwood.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 NOON on Monday, June 30th at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11AM to 12 NOON prior to the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website, www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
