On August 19, 2025, our beloved husband, brother, and friend, John Joseph "Jack" Lekin, 84, of Iowa City, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior. A Funeral Service will be held at11 AM, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend and share memories. Private burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery.

Jack was born on April 30, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa to Vincent and Irene Lekin. From a young age he was known as a caring soul. He built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose, spending over fifty years as a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ.

Those who knew jack will always remember his sense of humor and his joyful saying, "Hallelujah to Ya!"

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Sandra (Bill) Ellis, David (Carolyn) Streeby, Ronald Streeby and Kay Streeby; two cherished dogs, Ozzie and Harriet; and many extended family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jayne (Edward) Madden; and brother-in-law, Larry Streeby and sister-in-law, Carol Streeby.

He will be deeply missed but forever carried in our hearts.
