Born on October 5, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John W. and Flora Mae Schisler Lewis Jr. Former husband of the late Donella Vidmar Lewis, and brother to the late Russell and Donald Lewis.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he exhibited incredible courage and dedication. Following his military service, he began his career in the private sector working for several years at Thompson Ramo Wooldridge (TRW) in OH.
Jack’s passion was in academia and received his Phd from Case Western Reserve. Upon completing his doctorate Jack moved his young family to Boston, MA and pursued a life dedicated to shaping young minds as a professor at Boston College in the Carroll School of Management. Jack's passion for education was evident in his students' successes and the respect he garnered from colleagues.
After retiring from Boston College, where he taught 32 years, Jack moved permanently to Middletown, Rhode Island and spent his time volunteering at Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Brian Lewis and his wife, Linda, of Franklin, MA, and their three children Kelsey, Kevin and Corinne as well as Daryl Lewis and his wife Kerry of Grafton, MA and their three children Brett, Ryan, and Kate all of whom carry forward his legacy of compassion, intellect, and integrity.
He will always be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the profound impact he made on both his family and the world of education.
The family would like to thank All About Home Care and their dedicated staff that was always willing to go the extra mile to make Jack comfortable and to give him the best care. They treated him as family, and we are tremendously grateful for that.
