John L. Loos Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 7, 1947, in
Harrison, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late John L. Loos Sr. and Martha (nee Grubbs) Loos. A proud graduate of William Henry Harrison High School, Class of 1965, John's life was a testament to hard work, love, and community.
John met the love of his life, Christie Brock, on a charming blind date arranged by friends. Instantly captivated by his good looks and witty personality, Christie knew she had found her perfect match. They were united in marriage on February 19, 1966, and spent 59 beautiful years together, effortlessly finishing each other's sentences and sharing countless moments of laughter.
As a devoted father to his three daughters-Barbara, Mary, and Julie-John delighted in coaching their softball and basketball teams, instilling in them the same strong work ethic he embodied. His devotion to family extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he made lasting memories while deer hunting, mushroom hunting, or simply enjoying time in the garage. His generous spirit frequently shined through as he shared ice cream and popsicles with neighborhood children, always quick to lend a helping hand to those in need.
John's professional journey included over 40 years of dedicated service with Harrison Township, co-ownership of Loos Blacktopping and Grandpa's Nursery in New Trenton, and a significant 14 years at Cincinnati Gas and Electric. Known as one of the hardest workers around, John balanced his career with his commitment to his family and community.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Christie; cherished daughters Barbara Loos, Mary (Brian) Dunaway, and Julie (Rick) Roell; wonderful grandchildren Jesse Brake, Noah (Kelsie Solly) Dunaway, Seth (Sidney Kemp) Dunaway, Abigail Roell, Andie Roell, and twins Ashlee and Austin Roell; beloved great-grandchildren Carter, Leila, Liam, Cora, and Carsyn. He will also be remembered fondly by his siblings Kathleen (George) Landon, Hope (Neil) Fuqua, Beatrice (Joe) Leistner, and Mary Kraemer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
