John Lawrence Lopes Jr.

John Lopes, Jr., aka 'Aloha John', 88, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa, Hawaii. Born on Oahu, John was a retired Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. He was an employee of Westpac Restorations and a docent at the Museum of WWII Aviation. He is survived by his life partner, Janice Gantzer of Kailua-Kona, HI and Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Lorraine Miranda of Oahu, HI and Kalei Luyben of Oregon; step-children, John (Jacqueline) Gantzer of Albuquerque, NM, Sheri (Drew) Kanyer of Mequon, WI and Tucson, AZ, Kristine (Dennis) Simpson of Albuquerque, NM and Tim (Maggie) Gantzer of Tucson, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to Hospice of Kona's Nakamaru Hale and National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
