John Thomas Malavich, 50, of Lowell, MA, died on February 25, 2025, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. He was the beloved son of Paula (Ryan) Malavich of Lowell, MA, and the late William P. Malavich Jr.
John was born on May 30, 1974, and raised in Lowell, MA. John is a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1992 and later from Middlesex Community College with an associate's degree. Following college, John moved to the Massachusetts North Shore communities where he followed his enjoyment of cooking and the culinary arts. John worked as a sous chef for several restaurants in the North Shore before working as both sous chef and head chef at Ferncroft Country Club of Middleton, MA.
John enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan. He was always willing to cook up some snacks and hang out with close friends and family. John was always able to bring a smile and laughter out of everyone in the room.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers William and his wife Moira Malavich of Maynard, MA, James and his wife Jenny Malavich of Dracut, MA; sister Christine and her husband William O'Rourke of E. Greenwich, RI; nephews William and Brendan Malavich; nieces Amy and Amber Malavich, and Sophie and Bridget O'Rourke. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Lowell, MA.
Services for John will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 9AM at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST., N. CHELMSFORD 01863 followed by a mass at 10AM at St. Margaret's Church. Burial to follow. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME (978)-251-4041. Guestbook at www.dolanfuneralhome.com
