John P. Manry passed away on August 2, 2024, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He was 89 years old.
Mr. Manry was born on January 4, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduation from high school, he honorably served two years in the United States Army. Upon discharge from the Army, John received a football scholarship from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marquette University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.Following graduation from Marquette, John was employed by IBM in Texas. Throughout his twenty-one-year career, he served in a number of sales, management and corporate positions. After leaving IBM, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pinetree Computer Systems, a Texas data collection company. John served on the boards of Action Performance, Inc., Valley Of The Sun Wireless Inc. and This Software Inc. He was a member of the 1881 Society of the Marquette University President's Council. Prior to his death, John served as Chairman of the Board of Nations Express, Inc, a worldwide freight forwarder company located in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also chaired the audit and compensation committees. John was the founder and managing partner of Manry, McChesney and Associates Inc, a mid-Atlantic real estate holding company. He was on the Board of Directors of Stonestreet One Inc., an engineering development firm in Louisville, Kentucky.
John is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Hedy White Manry of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; his daughter, Lisa Manry Montgomery, her husband Craig, and their two sons, Austin and Brandon Montgomery of Granbury, Texas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Duston from Marietta, Georgia. John was preceded in death by his daughter Shannon Manry Arend.
