John Thomas Marrs passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025. Born on July 14, 1950, in Odessa, Texas, to William and Bernice Johnson Marrs, John was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He grew up in Monahans, graduating from Monahans High School before attending Texas A&M University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree in Physics and his master's degree in meteorology. John had a lifelong passion for weather, gardening, and football. Many weekends found him cheering on his beloved Aggies. An avid reader, he especially enjoyed science fiction and war stories. Though serious by nature, John possessed a wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to family and friends alike. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Marrs. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Sharon; his son, Dale Marrs (Shannon); his daughter, Kathryn Boelter (Jim); his granddaughter, Gwen; and his brother, Jim Marrs (Teri). A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Bullard Methodist Church, with Pastor Dave officiating. A reception with family, friends, and congregants will follow the service. John's life was marked by curiosity, dedication, loyalty, and love for those around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
