John Alan May, known affectionately to all as John, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 72 at home in Spring Branch, Texas. Born on April 8, 1953, in Nacoma, Texas, John's vivacious spirit and loving heart touched everyone he encountered. John's life was filled with the joy of a close-knit family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Roberta May, who he spent 48 years with. They shared a beautiful and enduring love. Together, they raised a family that included their daughter Hilda May, their son Harvey Lucier, and his
wife Andrea and daughters Shirley Griffith and Chrystal St Clair, who is married to Seth St Clair.
John was a cherished grandfather to eleven grandchildren-David, Kevin, Princess, Josh, Mikaela, Logan, John, Ashley, Savannah, Jacob, and Chastity-and five great-grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by his playful spirit and unconditional love. John was the heart of his family, which also included his siblings Carol, Jessie, Peggy, and Billy. He was preceded in death by his parents, EJ and Robbie May, and his siblings Lilly and Kennard. John's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he often said that his greatest achievement was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. With a GED in hand, John dedicated many years as a greens keeper and maintenance worker at a golf course in the Texas Hill Country. His hard work, dedication, and infectious laugh made him a beloved figure among his colleagues and the community. An adventurous soul, John loved the outdoors and was an avid participant in river volleyball, skydiving, riding the Guadalupe River, and, of course, fishing.
Above all, John cherished time spent with family and friends. His love for life was evident in every barbecue, every game played, and every story told under the Texas sky. John's personality was a tapestry woven with threads of love, humor, and adventure. He approached life with a sense of fun that was contagious, and he never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. His adventurous nature inspired those around him to embrace life with zest and to find joy in the simple pleasures. John's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to embrace life's journey. He will be deeply missed by all who had the fortune to know him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. John Alan May's memory will be cherished forever as a guiding light of love and joy.
