John McClamroch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 15, 2023.
John Arch McClamroch, age 72, of Willow Spring, North Carolina, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1950, John was raised in Raleigh near the campus of North Carolina State University. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh in 1969 and enrolled at Wake Tech (called Holden School at that time). John had a life-long interest in cars and their mechanical makeup, and therefore chose to study Automotive Sciences.
Upon graduation from Wake, John went to work for Benny's Tire Service, a Raleigh Institution for over 50 years. Later, he would work for Dayco Automotive Parts, Beck Arnley/World Parts, and Auto Supply Company, for whom he worked until retirement in 2018.
In 1969 John met Deborah (Debbie) Ann Gray at an automotive event in Raleigh. Soon that chance meeting blossomed into a deep and abiding love that led to marriage in 1971, children and a relationship steeped in the love of Jesus Christ that continued to grow stronger in all respects for 52 years, until John's death last week. The Union between John and Debbie produced two children, John (Johnny) Arch McClamroch, Junior, and Kimberly Ann Anderson; and four grandchildren – Taylor Anderson, Alyssa Anderson, Halei McClamroch, and Rylei McClamroch – and one great grandchild, Liam Anderson.
John's love for his family was rivaled only by his love for Jesus Christ whom he accepted as his Lord and Savior early in life. John chose to live his life as a soldier for Christ and a happy witness for Christ's Glory. John was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Raleigh from 1972 to 1986, and Fellowship Bible Church in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, from 1986 to his death. As a member of Fellowship, John was a Sunday School teacher and a Church Elder for 31 years.
John is survived by his wife, Debbie; his two children, John, Jr. (Johnny) and his wife, Desiree, and Kimberly Anderson (Barry); his four grandchildren, Taylor Anderson (Amber), Alyssa Anderson, Halei MaClamroch, and Rylei McClamroch; and great grandson Liam Anderson. Additionally, John leaves behind two brothers – Tennyson McClamroch (Brenda), and Michael McClamroch; and a sisters Barbara Permenter, and Judith Brown (Lee). John's surviving in-laws include J.R. Gray (Patti), Dave Gray (Beth), Jerry Gray (Debbie), and Mickie Strickland (Bobby).
Also surviving are numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
