John "JP" Patrick McLaughlin, a loyal and beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away at the much too young age of 44 on October 28th, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Born and raised in Phoenix, John discovered his passion for building at an early age, honing his craft alongside his father, Rick. His journey in construction was marked by hard work and dedication, leading him to open his own company where he could fully immerse himself in the design/build process. Those experiences led him to Chasse Building Team where he found immense joy in his work and thrived in his role, always inspiring those around him with his servant leadership and unwavering commitment. When he wasn't guiding his team to success, you could find him at the grill with the biggest smile always elevating the energy of the site.
In 2006, John married the love of his life, Ashley, and together they welcomed five wonderful children: Patrick, Peyton, Paisley, Pryce, and Piper. A family man to his core, John loved his wife fiercely and was always seeking new adventures for his family. Whether they were traveling, snowboarding, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing or simply enjoying time together, he made it a priority to create unforgettable memories.
After dedicating much of his life to building homes for others, John took on his most personal project in August 2023: beginning the remodel of their family home with his own hands. Though this dream remains unfinished, the love and dedication he poured into it will live on, inspiring his family and friends to carry forward his vision and complete the journey he began.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ashley; his children, Patrick (18), Peyton (17), Paisley (13), Pryce (11), and Piper (3); his parents, Rick and Mary McLaughlin; his younger sister, Tara McLaughlin (John Wyatt and Hadlee), and grandfather Harold "Chip" Sarchett. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joyce Sarchett, and Donald Hilderbrand, and his paternal grandparents, Willie McLaughlin, and David McLaughlin.
A service celebrating the life of John McLaughlin will be held on Thursday, November 7th, at 11 AM at Christ Church of the Valley, located at 15025 N 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85032. A reception for close friends and family will follow.
John had a unique ability to connect with others, treating everyone he met like a friend. His integrity and dedication will be remembered, and he leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

John was a good friend when I lived in Arizona. He and I collaborated as I too had once owned my own residential remodeling company and when I decided to close it down I went to work for John (at McLaughlin & Sons LLC) as a project manager. I learned a lot about building from John and enjoyed his friendship. I recently had wood work completed on my home in Ohio and the excellent workmanship gave me the idea to reach out to John again as we hadn´t spoken in a few years. I was deeply saddened to learn the news. RIP John, I know you will be with the Lord.
