GROVERTOWN – John A. Meadows of Grovertown went to be with his Lord and Savior on Veteran's Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Porter Hospital following an illness. He was born on March 4, 1936 in North Liberty to the late Lester Sr. and Sadie (Jones) Meadows and was 87 years-old at the time of his death.
John lived in the area since he retired from the US Air Force in 1974. On February 5, 1955 in Koontz Lake, he married the love of his life Loretta (Lerch). He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving three tours in the Vietnam War. He then worked as a Mold Setter at Stelrema Corporation where he retired. John attended Eagle Creek Church in Knox and was a member of the American Legion. He loved to work in his pole barn on various projects, but thoroughly enjoyed welding and working on his three tractors. He was also an avid gardener.
John is survived by his loving wife Loretta of Grovertown; two daughters Denise (Ray) Sinn of Hamlet and Brenda (John) Walters of St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren Jason (Erin) Meadows of Sandy, OR, Shannon (Jeremy) Cox of St. Augustine, FL, and Tricia (Jeff) Morgan of Saginaw, TX; several great grandchildren and two sisters Arlene Abiney of LaPorte and Betty Siroky of Plymouth. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Mona Varga and Anna Keltz; and three brothers including his twin Jim, Les, and Gene.
Visiting hours will be from 11:00 to 1:00 CST on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 CST also on Tuesday, November 21 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet.
