John Daniel “Dan” Meaux, was born on March 13, 1937 and passed away on April 4, 2025 at 88 years of age. Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, that dedicated his life to caring for those he loved. He will always be remembered for the countless ways that he took care of his family, never hesitating to lend a helping hand.

Dan was born and raised in Abbeville, Louisiana. After attending Abbeville High School, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as an Airman for 4 years while stationed in San Diego, California and in Hawaii. He also served for 2 years in the Navy Reserve. While stationed in San Diego, he met his loving wife, Linda Lupps Meaux. After their marriage in 1959, they chose Denham Springs, Louisiana as the place they would call home and raise their family.

Dan worked as an Operator at Dow Chemical and retired with 27 years of service. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time with his family. His hobbies were fishing, camping, woodworking, small engine repair, reading and crossword puzzles. He told stories of how much he enjoyed shrimping with his father when he was younger. After his retirement, he made it his goal in life to take care of all of his family in any way that he could. He will always be remembered as the “Daddy” and “Paw Paw” that could fix anything, and his help always came with a smile that we will never forget.

Dan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Linda (Lupps) Meaux; daughters, Trina (Greg) Prejean and Dawn (Jimmy) Bellelo; grandchildren, Ashley (Kemp) Darsey, Mandy (Micheal) Rojas, and Christina (Jonathan) Beckham; great grandchildren, Mason Kemp Darsey, Braden Micheal Rojas, Jackson Reid Darsey, Maggie Rose Beckham, and Miles Ray Beckham; and Sister-in-Law, Barbara Lupps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Edia (Hebert) Meaux.

A Graveside Service will be held in the mausoleum chapel at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital Neurology Team, St. Joseph’s Hospice, The Carpenter House of Baton Rouge, and Father Brad Doyle of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
