Obituary of John M. Moquin
ALBANY –
It is with great sadness that the family of John M. Moquin of Albany, NY announces his passing on May 1, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 76 years old.
John was born in Burlington, VT in 1947, the first of four children of Alphonse and Anna Moquin.
John wore many hats in his life, from hairdresser to store owner, photographer, artist, beloved father, brother, and son. He made friends wherever he went, and loved to tell stories of his adventures. John was a naturally gifted artist in many different mediums. As an adult, he attended Russell Sage College to further expand his artistic talents, graduating with honors. John spent many years exploring, photographing, and documenting wildlife on Schodack Island, his favorite place to retreat from the world. His work culminated in an educational coloring book about the wildlife there, which he both wrote and illustrated. Later in life, John decided to teach himself to play guitar as well.
John is survived by his brother David (Maria), his sisters Nanci and Teresa (Bill), his daughters Sonya Allen and ShaShauna Raposa, and his son Josh Raposa. He also leaves his grandchildren, nieces, and nephew.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The family will have a private celebration of his life.
If you wish to honor John, go out in nature and take some photos, be a good steward of the great outdoors, and hug your loved ones whenever you can.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Moquin and Raposa Families, online at: SimpleChoicesCremation.com

John was an amazing person with a firm handshake every time you seen him. He always had a smile, was grateful, impressive and understanding. Over a decade of knowing John and seeing his photos and learning about some of his history I was always impressed how he had the strength and vigor each day to do what he did with a full heart. I will miss John and know that he will be missed by many. I pray for the day he will be awaken from his sleep and I will be able to talk with him again in the new world lead by Jesus our King.

To the Moquin family, my family and I, we can only express our deepest condolences.
I worked with John for many years, we enjoyed our conversation ranging from family, home projects, star gazing and bird watching. I will remember our conversations, my last conversation with John was he was so excited his daughter was able to buy a house and he thought she got it for a steal. I´m thankful for meeting and getting to know John over the last few years. Thanks to John and his generosity, he gave me a few bird watching books he helped make. Because of his books and his love for bird watching and the influence those books had on my kid's. When my daughter sits outside, she can point out birds to me and tell me the kind they are and how she can tell just by the way the wings move when they turn or the shape of them. Bird watching with my kids will help my family remember John and keep him in my family´s thoughts.

I worked indirectly with John for many years, and every encounter with him was enjoyable and uplifting. He was always kind, friendly and quick to share a light comment and a smile. He will surely be missed and remembered fondly on our campus! Thank You John, RIP.

John and I worked together onsite at Regeneron. Almost everyday John and I would share a pleasantry and spend some time chatting together. John was so kind, warm and always had a smile to share. I will think of him often and miss our interactions.
