John Fredrick Murphy, a dedicated family man and distinguished FBI agent, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 82. Born on October 29, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, John was proud to be a first-generation American, the son of Irish immigrants Fred Murphy and Josephine Ivers.
John spent the last 49 years of his life in Louisville, where he made a lasting impact through his 36-year career with the FBI. His commitment to upholding justice and protecting his community earned him the respect of his colleagues and those he served. While he may not have been the most outwardly friendly individual, John's loyalty to his friends and family was unwavering.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Priscilla, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, support, and shared experiences that enriched their family. John's steadfast dedication to Priscilla was a testament to the strength of their bond, and he cherished every moment spent by her side.
John is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his daughter, Meghan; and his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson, and Evelynn; his nephews and Irish cousins Kay and Brendan Conden and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Murphy; his mother, Josephine Ivers; his brother, Kevin Murphy; his sister in law Kothesa Murphy; and many Irish Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. His family will forever hold dear the memories of his quiet strength and dedication. His legacy of loyalty and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
No memorial service will be held in his honor per his request. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Schumann Center or Mercy Academy in John's memory.
Rest in peace, John. Your loyalty and strength will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
