John F. Negri, a proud veteran of the Army and Air Force passed away on August 19, 2025. He was born in New Jersey, grew up in Miami, FL and graduated from the University of Tampa with a Bachelors degree and later attended George Washington University in Washington D.C. where he completed a Master's Degree in Forensic Science. John was able to complete his college degrees via the U.S. Military's Bootstrap program.
At the age of 19 John enlisted in the Air Force and served for 11 years as an O.S.I. Agent before transferring to the Army and attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 and serving in the Criminal Investigative Division where he completed his 20 years of honorable service. As part of this service, he served in Vietnam and earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. Additionally, he obtained many other service medals including a Bronze Star Medal with V Device and Meritorious Service Medal.
He served for 20 years in Law Enforcement with Seminole County Sheriff's Office in Sanford, FL and will be remembered for his incredible mentorship of young deputies. John will be remembered for his love of family, history and Military memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olivia Negri; brother, Kenneth Negri and granddaughter Casey Negri.
He is survived by his wife Emma Sue Negri; children, Jacqueline (Leonard) Turner, John E. (Tammy) Negri, Richard E. Negri, Ernie Ellenburg, and Lisa (Adam) Pollett; grandchildren, Gina Trenholm, Jennifer Vestal, John T. Negri, Meridith (Negri) Blanton, Tyler Negri, Dylan Negri, Brandon Ellenburg; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary (Mike) Fahrig.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to American Legion Post 285, Edgewater, FL. 4497 US Highway - Edgewater, FL 32141.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
