John Vernon "Sonny" Nunnery Sr., passed from this life to be with his Lord on Friday, August 15, 2025 at his home near Gloster. He was born January 18, 1943 in Liberty, MS. He is the son of the late Barney B. Nunnery and Irene Tarver Nunnery. He was a truck driver most of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grand and great-grandfather. He loved to hunt and fish, and loved to go camping with his family. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Barney B. and Irene Nunnery, one brother Retus Nunnery, and one sister Dorothy Wilkinson. He is survived by his wife Alice Nunnery; two sons Johnny Nunnery and wife Pam and Michael Nunnery; one daughter Stacy Nunnery; one grandson Kannon Nunnery; two granddaughters Jacey and husband Corey Mullins and Karlie and Sutton Olive; two great grandchildren Eli Olive and Kenley Mullins; three brothers Lane Nunnery, Allen Nunnery, and Ted Nunnery; four sisters Ruthie and husband Hansel Knight, Ann Heard, Glenda and Dough Tanksly, and Dell Nunnery; numerous nieces , nephews, and cousins, and a wonderful church family of Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy. Visitation for family only is Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy, 9:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Visitation for the Public is from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:30 A.M. at the church, officiated by Rev. Danny Cook. Interment will follow at Clay Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kent Dawson, Donnie Wilkinson, Johnny Black, Corey Mullins, Sutton Olive and Kannon Nunnery. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Wilkinson, James Whittington, and Willie Bailey.
