John Olk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Feb. 11, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, John Olk on February 7th, 2025. He leaves behind love for family that will be felt for a lifetime.
John was born to Raymond and Patricia (Smith) Olk, on August 18th, 1961, in Owosso, MI. He was raised in New Lothrop Michigan, where he was also a graduate from New Lothrop High School class of 1979. John's strong work ethic in life lead to an early and very successful career with Sears Corporation. In 2004 he relocated to Florida and pursued a successful career as an Electrician, rising to lead manager until his retirement in 2023.
He was hard working and fun loving, and cherished time with his family. His sharp wit and charisma always made for a lasting memory whenever with him. John loved spending time with his beloved wife, Theresa. They enjoyed spending time at Englewood beach where they were married in Florida and riding their motorcycle together. He loved nothing more than a visit with his daughters and grandchildren and treating them to a home grilled steak whenever possible.
He died with the love of his life beside him at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida at the age of 63.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa Olk; daughters, Shana (Francisco) Espinoza, and Raeann Olk; stepchildren, Stephanie and Krysta; grandchildren, Francisco Jr., Soren and Kaiden; step-grandchildren Dennis and Stephen; his brothers, Pat (Marsha) Olk, Bob (Terri) Olk; sister Paula Ginther; sister in law Linda Gavel; father in law John Gavel; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Jackie Olk; stepson; Tommy.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 8th at Maple Grove Township Hall located at 4017 Peet Rd. New Lothrop, MI 48460. Please dress casually and share a memory to laugh, just like John would want. Family and all friends are invited to visit from 1:30-4:30pm. At 4:30pm a small ceremony to share memories will occur. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with end-of-life costs at this difficult time.
