John W. Patterson Sr., 85, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Saturday July 26, 2025. Born October 25, 1939, Claysburg, son of the late James W. and Mary Margaret (Leonard) Patterson. Surviving is his wife, Janet, two sons, John (Jocelyn), Christopher, a stepson, Bobby; 3 grandchildren, Alicia, Cody, Jasmine, two great grandchildren, Danali and Aspyn. Also survived by eight siblings, Kenneth, Woody, King, Rodney, Marlene, Phillis, Jackie, and Charlene, and many nieces and nephews. John had four dogs Angel, Sadie, Sandy, and Queenie. John was preceded in death by a daughter, Jammie Boggs, by four sisters, Barbara J. Coble, Beverly M. Runyeon, Marion Ingram, and Starlith Ingold; and by two brothers, Mike E. and Jimmy W. Patterson. Over the years John worked at the Altoona Shoe Factory, Proctor Silex, and at C- Cor Electronics. He enjoyed tinkering around his garage, working on cars, going to the casino, playing card games, and playing with his dogs. John was always willing to help someone in need. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Dull, officiant. Interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Dr., Altoona, PA 16602.
