John A. Pippin
Roy – Our Father, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa left this earth on March 17, 2024, at the age of 100 years.
He was born on June 18, 1923, in Sunset Utah to John T. Pippin and Zella Agnes Demers Pippin. On October 23, 1948, he married the love of his life Beverly Jean Pippin. They celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage together. Yuma Arizona is where they spent their winter months enjoying the warm temperatures and the beautiful golf courses. They were inseparable, always together even if it was to go fill up their car with gas. Sadly, she passed way too soon on January 12, 1999.
John joined the United States Marine Corps and completed basic training in San Diego CA. He received additional training at Camp Pendleton CA, Oceanside CA, Memphis TN, Chicago IL, and Columbia South Carolina. He was in Hilo Hawaii in transit to Japan when the Japanese surrendered and ended World War II. He continued onto Japan and spent the remainder of his military service as part of an occupational force. He worked in transportation of supplies for the allied forces until August of 1946. He received an honorable discharge in San Diego CA on August 24, 1946.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 37 years. His most recent position held as a missile technician working on the Minuteman.
John had the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Honor Flight Program with his son. Together they were flown to Washington DC to visit the historical sights.
He enjoyed golfing as well as gardening. His tomatoes and peppers were superb not to mention his peaches and apples he grew.
John is survived by his son John Terry (Zina) Pippin, Roy, daughter Lori Jean Nelson, Riverdale, grandchildren, Jake and Stacey Pippin, Joel and Ashley Pippin, Jared and Wendy Pippin, Porter Dalton and Kate Keip, Jesse and Tiffany Nelson, and Nicholas and Emilie Nelson.
He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Hailey Pippin, Austin Pippin, Parker Pippin, Lucas Pippin, Paige Pippin, Lucy Pippin, Paisley Pippin, Cooper Pippin, Jack Pippin, and Tristen Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lavon Allen, brother in-law Joseph Ray Allen, and son in-law Rick Nelson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunridge (Roy) for the kindness and professionalism in caring for our father. To Mary Hunt our hospice nurse who provided her expertise in the crucial care in our father's final days we are most grateful.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 1p.m. at the Roy City Cemetery.
