It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Platek, III, 65, of Framingham, on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Born in Framingham, on March 25, 1960, John was the son of the late John Jr., and Anita (Taylor) Platek. He was a graduate of Keefe Tech, class of '78, where he built his lifelong “Framingham Crew.” The Framingham Crew played softball, horseshoes, cards, and bocce; they bowled; attended weddings and celebrations and created many more priceless memories.
John was a carpenter in Union local #336 for 28 years. An avid Patriots and Red Sox fan who loved his 1970 Chevelle SS 454 and animals. Renowned for “Summer begins and ends at The Plateks" with his Memorial Day and Labor Day parties.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Kim (Wade) Platek of Framingham; his cherished siblings, James Platek of Framingham and Jeffrey Platek of Bellingham; his adored godchild, William Platek; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his dear parents, John was predeceased by his sister Tina Louise Platek and his brother Gregory Platek.
Though John is no longer with us and we will forever miss him, we will carry him with us in all that we do. His caring heart and selfless soul are forever ingrained into the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Calling hours will be held for John on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. until his Funeral Service at 2:30p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
