John Raymond Player, III
1953-2025
John Raymond Player, III was born in Myrtle Point, OR, on January 28, 1953, to John Raymond Player, Jr and Virginia McManigal Player. He passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, FL, due to complications from a heart attack.
John was raised in Coquille, OR, and graduated in 1971 from Coquille High School. His love of cars started early in the basement of his childhood home. This led him to jobs as a mechanic and to working on a pit crew for his longtime friend at the Woodburn Dragstrip. His love of tinkering with things made him a jack of all trades, willing to jump into projects to help family, friends, and neighbors. He worked for Weyerhaeuser in Springfield, OR, for 42 years. After retirement, he moved to Florida.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Ava Player; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Nordyke and Ron Branham.
He leaves behind his wife, Debra Branham Player; his children, Casey (Sean) Spencer, Jessica (Zach) Martinez, and John (Kailyn) Player, IV; as well as grandchildren: Riley & Avery Spencer, and Chris, Hannah, Penny, Manny and Eleanor Rose Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Jan (Bill) Grant, Mary (Mike) Murphy, and Patty Nordyke; and many nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread on the Oregon coast.
