John P. Poll Jr.

John Poll, beloved husband, father, brother, friend-and most proudly, an admired 'Pop-Pop"-passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on March 21, 1941, John grew up in Newark, New Jersey.

While working for NJ Office Supply, John met the love of his life, Carol (Ingata). Together they share 61 incredible years of marriage, raising their two sons and building a life full of love and memories in Toms River, New Jersey.

John was known for bringing people together. He hosted legendary Memorial Day parties complete with shuffleboard and horseshoe tournaments, and country music playing on the jukebox long before country was cool. John proudly owned and operated The Sunset Shoppe in Lavallette for more than ten years while spending over twenty years as a Toms River School bus driver, where he became a familiar and friendly face in the community.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert, and his sister, Joan. John is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; his sons, John(Karen) and Brian (Kate); and his five grandchildren-Hayley, Alex, Colin, Riley, and Tyler-who meant more to him than anything in the world. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond, as well as several nieces and a nephew.

John was a strong, dedicated family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. His presence, stories, and steady support will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
