John Walter Pool

John Walter Pool, 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a yearslong battle with Inclusion Body Myositis.
John was born May 22nd, 1969 in Lonehill, South Africa. Son of James and Anne Pool, he attended Michaelhouse boarding school where he played rugby and swam competitively. He moved to America in 1986 to attend the University of Denver where he received a swimming scholarship. While attending the University of Denver, he met his first wife Karen who he married in 1988. John and Karen moved back to South Africa where his sons Jonathan and Michael were born, before returning to the US in 1999 and moving to Naples, Florida.
John's professional life was centered around technology and sales, starting his own businesses in South Africa before working with SCO in California, where among many things he was the first person to order a pizza over the internet. John continued to work in the technology industry for the remainder of his professional life.
He met his wife Tracy in 2008, and they were married in 2012. As his health declined in 2018, his focus shifted to his family and his own health and personal growth. He enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and swimming at home. His thirst for knowledge was never quenched.
John's reputation preceded him, charismatic and exceptionally positive, enriching the lives of all of those lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy and children Jonathan, Michael, Maxwell, Cameron, Ben, and Tatiana. He is also survived by his 5 siblings, and 3 nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025 with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Avow Hospice or ComeAndSeeFoundation.org.
