John Mark Pullen, 77, of Aiken passed away on January 9, 2024. He was son of the late Stanley and Rita Pullen. John was a proud Navy Submarine Veteran (USS Simon Bolivar). He later went on to retire from the U.S. Department of Energy as a Nuclear Safety Engineer.
John was an avid reader, lover of history, meticulous storyteller, and Master Mr. Fix-It. He was always generous with his time and talents, and loved helping others. As someone who was passionate about education, John served as a substitute teacher after retirement. He was also an advocate for Released Time Bible Study for young people in nearby schools. John was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife, Anne; sons, Daniel and Daryl Pullen; step-daughters, Erica and Amanda Quattlebaum. Also surviving are his siblings, Dale Jean (DJ), Sharon, Jim, Terry, Greg, and Bill.
At John's request, no formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, 810 Maxwell Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.

John and I both worked at and retired from the Savannah River Site as Nuclear Safety Engineers for Department of Energy. His wife Anne also worked there. John and I frequently took a lunch break walk in the woods on site near our office. We were fellow veterans... he was a Navy Submariner and ...I was an Army Vietnam Combat Engineer.
