John William Qualkenbush

MUNCIE - John William Qualkenbush, 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at his home.
John was born on December 10, 1941 in Muncie, to the late John Franklin and Dorothy (Morrison) Qualkenbush. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1960 and later, the Indiana College of Mortuary Science where he was a member of the honor fraternity. John honorably served in the US Army at Fort Bragg, NC rising to the rank of staff sergeant.
He was employed by Devoe Chevrolet/Cadillac where he was known as "the Loan Arranger" and was manager of insurance and finance. He then became owner of Country Cars on US 35 near Blountsville.
John and his family moved from Muncie to a farm in Mooreland, IN in 1966. After retirement, he spent winters in Leesburg, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching auto races, and attending flea markets and auctions. He was married to Betty Sue Qualkenbush for 53 years. In later years, he resided in Yorktown, with Doris Slaven.
John leaves behind his sons; Greg (Donna), Mike (Deanna) and John Jay (Sheryl); seven grandchildren; Madison (Alex), Nick (Chrystal), Trevor (Leah), Sara, John Ivan, Ella and Jackson; five great grandchildren; Carter, Callee, Cooper, Mason, Dane and Phoebe; and two great-great grandchildren; Clementine and Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steve and Mark; and his sister, Lindy.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie.
