"They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies." - William Penn
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John B. Quinn, 72, after a mighty battle with cancer and related complications on June 21, 2023. John was a wonderful Husband, Father and Grandpa. His heart was as big as his smile. He was well known for his humor, quick witted jokes and kindness. He enjoyed playing and watching golf. He rarely went anywhere without his blue Titleist hat; it became his signature look over the years. He had a lot of luck when it came to playing slot machines and scratch-off tickets and he enjoyed playing whenever he could. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. Among all of his interests, his most loved activity was being a Grandpa.
John was born May 8, 1951 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to William and Lauretta Quinn. He lived his fun-filled childhood among his 8 siiblings and many friends in Darlington, Wisconsin. He graduated from Darlington High School in 1969 and enlisted in the Army later that year. After his return from his military duties, he returned to work at the Chrysler Plant in Belvidere, Illinois. John retired as an Inspector at Chrysler in 2001. He went on to work part-time at Premier Printing (Coffee with Kraig) until January 2023.
John married his beloved wife, Deborah (Brunton) in 1976. John and Deborah went on to have one child; Sarah. They lived and raised Sarah in Roscoe, IL. If there was ever a time that decisions or personalities clashed in the house, he was the pillar of love and tolerance that brought it back together again.
John was predeceased by his father, William Quinn; mother, Lauretta Quinn; brother, Larry Quinn; brother-in-law, Lee Zurfluh; and sister-in-law, Elaine Quinn. There is no doubt that his family welcomed him to heaven with a long awaited embrace.
John is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter, Sarah (Justin) Peterson; grandchildren, Zoey and Lily; siblings, Ron (Diane) Quinn, Jerry (Doris) Quinn, Bill (Kathy) Quinn, Judy Zurfluh, Tom (Joanne) Quinn, Mary (Mark) Jacobsen, Dick (Cinda) Quinn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for John will be on Thursday, June 29, in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with service to follow at 4:00 PM. A private burial will be at an undisclosed date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the UW Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Fund in Madison, Wisconsin to further help individuals who may face the same battle John did. Donations can be made in tribute to John Quinn when filling out the form. Donations can be made online at
