John E. Redding, 82, of Plainfield, passed away on June 29, 2025, at Franciscan Hospice House. He was born in Indianapolis on December 11, 1942, to the late John L. Redding and Ruth (Arnold) Myers. John graduated from Clayton High School in 1961. He briefly owned his own construction company, Redding Masonry, before working for Consolidated Freightways for 25 years as a truck driver. After retirement, John kept busy by mowing several lawns.
John married Peggy Dean Redding in November of 1992, and she survives.
He was a member of the Teamsters and the Plainfield Euchre club for several years. A proud Hoosier, John was an I.U., Colts, and Pacer fan. He loved fishing, especially the fishing trips in Canada with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to hunt deer, rabbits, squirrels, and frogs. John spent much of his free time golfing, playing softball, reading, watching Jeopardy, and tinkering in his garage. He always looked forward to holidays with his family.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Redding; sister, Judith Michael; and stepson, David Pyle.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Peggy Redding; children, Lisa Shaw (Danny) and Greg Redding (Missy); stepson, Jeff Pyle; grandchildren, Adam Shaw, Caleb Shaw, Ashley Tyler (Curt), Gwyneth Redding, Evelyn Redding, and Elyssa Pyle; great-grandchildren, Rivera, Cameron, and Addison; brothers, Loren Scalf (Terri) and Gene Redding (Tess); and sister, Vicki Reid (Marvin).
