John Price Richards, "Jack" was 78 years old when he passed away peacefully on the morning of August 11, 2025. The son of Preston L. and Elisabeth M. Richards, he was born in Southampton, NJ on April 21, 1947 and remained there his whole life, becoming a permanent fixture of the area. Many of you may have bought produce from his farm stand - Farmer Jack's - or celebrated Halloween by searching for the perfect pumpkin at the patch after running through the corn maze and hopping on the hay ride back to your car. You may have even put presents under a Christmas tree that Jack helped you pick during the Holiday season after your little ones had their pictures taken on a pony ride. Jack had the 'gift of the gab', and no doubt you had an extended conversation with him at one coffee shop or another in town, or at a diner parking lot, always accompanied by his black German Shepherd, Tommy. But what most of you will probably not know is that in his youth, Jack attended Bordentown Military Institute, graduating in 1966, followed by a brief stint at Kansas State University before having to abruptly return home to attend to the family farm and business at the age of 20 after his own father's passing. Jack was an entrepreneur and visionary: he helped with maintaining the mobile home park his father established in the 1950's, established a Horse Racing Stable, purchased the remnants of Liberty Bell Park Racetrack and transported and built a training facility back at the farm after the track's closing in 1985, he coached youth Basketball for over 20 years, and enjoyed piloting his airplane as a hobby. Jack loved his family deeply and is survived by his brother Preston, son Shaun, daughter-in-law Erica, son Travis, daughter-in-law Lara, daughter Hillary, son-in-law Zeke, daughter Whitney, son-in-law Michael, and his 9 grandchildren, Alexzandrea, Liam, Hazel, Lucas, Leslie, Clementine, Baron, Beatrice and Ryan. He will be greatly missed! A viewing for Jack will be held on Monday, August 18th, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060. Funeral services for Jack will begin immediately following the viewing at 7pm at Perinchief Chapels. Graveside services for Jack will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street in Lumberton, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
