Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium LtdJohn F. Roberts, 79, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away October 18, 2025 at his home. He was born November 10, 1945, in Rhinelander, WI to Arthur and Roselyn (nee: Gersch) Roberts.
John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Laurie Roberts, whom he wed on August 25, 2000, his children John (Barbara) Roberts of Chicago, David (Kristin) Roberts of Chicago, Ann (Peter) Schaak of Schaumburg, Nicole (Tim) Ruffner of Lake Zurich, and Michael (Katherine) Beller of TN, and his grandchildren Matthew (Heather) Schaak of Chicago, Zane Baldarez of Buffalo Grove, Eric Schaak of Schaumburg, and Kirsten Roberts of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Walter and Arthur, and sister Anna Marie.
John lived his life to the fullest. He was dedicated to his family, friends, and all that needed someone to talk to. He was born in Rhinelander, WI and moved to Chicago where he raised his family and became a Chicago Police Officer, serving for 28 years. John was a ninth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and taught the art to many. In addition, he was a law enforcement instructor and trained many officers across Illinois. He was also a diehard Bears and Cubs fan.
A memorial gathering will take place on November 14, 2025 at the American Legion Post 1170 located at 111 E. Main Street, Round Lake Park, IL 60073 beginning at 3:00 pm and a prayer service at 5:45 pm.
