John Michael Rocks

HENDERSONVILLE - John Michael Rocks, 83, of Hendersonville, went peacefully to his Lord on June 8, 2024.
John was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Auburn University in 1963 with a Mechanical Engineering degree and achieved his Masters of Business Administration from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. John also served 6 years in the Marines Corp Reserves.
John had a career with DuPont for over 25 years, working in Waynesboro, VA, Chattanooga, TN, and Charlotte, NC. He lived and worked in Nashville, TN before retiring and moving to Hendersonville NC in 2009.
John was active in his community, becoming a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus, and transporting food for Interfaith Assistance Ministry. He was also active with his neighborhood association by being on committees or taking on roles on the board.
John was a faithful Catholic, husband, son, father, and friend. Faith and family were foremost to him. John had a deep appreciation for God's canvas of horticulture. He loved to read but his favorite pastime was watching football.
John is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Sandra. He is loved and remembered by his two children: Marshall Rocks, of Tampa, FL; daughter Holly Rocks, of Hendersonville, NC; and a very large extended family and many friends across the southeast.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17th 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a reception following the service. A burial with military honors will take place at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or The Knights of Columbus Council 7184 and mailed to 611 N. Church Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
