John David Smith, age 66, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family.
His wishes were to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
John was born on August 15, 1958 in El Paso, Texas to Bob and Lendie P. (Kinnard) Smith. He married Bonnie Gossett on February 14, 2001 in Sweetwater, Texas. John was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country for over seven years. He was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, volkswagons, leather crafting and wood carving. His family was the joy of his life. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Eddy Gossett and wife Cara of Frisco, Texas, daughter, Mary April Gage of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Tommy Gage and wife Halie of Clyde, Texas, daughter, Stephanie Smith and Marcus Alexander of Abilene, Texas, daughter, Kendra Cobb and husband Don of Wyoming, seven grandsons, six granddaughters, and brothers, Mark Smith and wife Teresa of Sweetwater, Texas, Kenny Smith and wife Vicky of Amarillo, Texas, and Bobbie Smith and wife Shannon of Sanford, Texas; two sisters, Cheryl McNutt and husband Cody of Fritch, Texas, and Carol Burland and husband Lynn of Borger, Texas; and step-mom, Sherolyn Smith of Borger, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lendie Smith, and grandson, DeMarcus Gage.
