John L. Sonneborn

John Sonneborn passed away March 2, 2025 at Abington hospital after a long bout with heart related illnesses.
John was born on September 27, 1954 to John and Virginia Sonneborn and joining the family with his sister Susan outside of Ambler, Pennsylvania. He lived in a young neighborhood with lots of kids, rode bikes, was in Little League, Scouts and lots of neighborhood softball games in the summer. He played the Baritone Horn, and had a part in the boys band of the Abington Music Theater production of The Music Man.
John graduated from Wissahickon High school, received an AA Applied Science degree from Montgomery Community College and later attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a BS in Criminology.
John worked most of his career as a retail manager, working the last 25 years as a store manager for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
He was affiliated with Lambda Alpha Epsilon, American Criminal Justice Association, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
John was married to Louise Bostock from 1983 to 1999 and they had one daughter, Kate, and he was stepfather to two sons, Peter and Jimmy.
John has been living in the very active Georgetown Community and was on the board and president of the condo association. He loved playing pickleball, bike riding, kayaking, traveling with friends and vacationing with extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet John's family on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Carmel Presbyterian Church, 100 Edge Hill Road, Glenside, PA 19038. His interment will be handled privately by the family.
