Greece: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at age 79. Predeceased by his mother, Mary Steckel, Patricia Steckel, mother of his children; son, Jonathon Swinford; brother-in-law, Roger Floyd. Survived by his wife of 20 years, Nancy Steckel; his children, Cheryl Steckel, Mark Steckel, Shon Swinford; his grandchildren, Steven Swinford, Elizabeth Turner, Jonathon Swinford, Timothy Swinford, Michael Swinford, Shon Swinford Jr, Trent Cavalier; 13 great grandchildren; sister Sandra Hill; brother-in Law Richard Hill and their children, Brian, Karen, and Christopher; brothers-in-law, Mervin Floyd, of Jennings, OK, George Floyd, wife Robin of Houston TX, Monte Floyd, wife, Vanessa of Mannford, OK.
A graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School and LeMoyne College.
John was a proud Marine, brother of the Lake Shore Fire Department and the Rochester Red Wings Organization. He also worked with the Amerks (Rochester Americans). John was a Financial Advisor with Equity Services for many years. He enjoyed golf and the rodeo.
Friends may call Wednesday (May 29th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday (May 30th) 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 3010 Chili Ave. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
