John D. (Doug) Stine, 90, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village.
Born Thursday, April 25, 1935, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late John Gilbert Stine and the late Nellie Irene (Gutshall) Stine.
Doug graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1953 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV. A proud veteran, he served with the Army National Guard. He was the President of Serv-U-Vending and Office Coffee Service, leading the company with dedication and vision. An active member of his community, Doug belonged to several organizations including the Rotary Club, Potomac Fish and Game Club, Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84, North American Rod and Gun Club, the Elks, and the Eagles Club. He was also a member of Fountain Head Country Club and a devoted parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an usher. Doug had a deep love for the outdoors, especially boating on the bay and river, and was an avid fisherman. A licensed private pilot, he cherished flying and spent many hours enjoying the sights and sounds with his friends at the Hagerstown Airport.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Shirley Stine; sons, Bret Stine (Deborah), and Christopher Stine (Karen); sister, Joan Jordan; grandchildren, Monica Churm (Tristan), Justin Stine (Rachel), Kara Stine, and Clarissa Stine; and great-grandchildren, Duncan and Maisie Churm, and JoAnna and Kole Wolfe and their father, Joel.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Stine and sister, Jackie Watts.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 am, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, MD, with Msgr. J. Bruce Jarboe officiating.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
