Obituary of John Sutherland
John Thomas Sutherland "Jack/Suds" of Irondequoit, NY passed away on December 7, 2024 61 years of age. He leaves behind his wife Jean, and children Catherine (Greece, NY), Thomas and Madison (Irondequoit, NY), his Mom Mary of Keuka Park, siblings Scott (Kathy), Terri (Bernie), Marcia (Ed), and David (Kristi). He was predeceased by his Dad Thurlow Sutherland (Suds) and in-laws Rita and Don Insley. He also is survived by his God Parents, Jon and Dona Durham, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves behind some great friends – too many to mention.
Jack was born in Canton, NY and went on to graduate from West Irondequoit High School before graduating in 1984 from MCC. He worked for 37 years at SCJ Associates (company originally founded by his Dad) as a machinist before retiring in May of this year. Jack's first love was family. He enjoyed spending time at Keuka Lake at his Mom's home, boating, fishing, swimming, 4-wheeling, hunting, just anything that he could enjoy with family and friends. He enjoyed all kinds of music but Grateful Dead was his favorite. He was a proud Dad of his three children and he taught them to work hard but to also take the time to enjoy life.
He lived life to the fullest.
His family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 4-7 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday, December 14, 11:00 am at St. Kateri At St. Margaret Mary Church for his funeral mass. Interment Irondequoit Cemetery.
