John Joseph Totten, Jr., affectionately known as John, passed away peacefully on November 11 2024, in Orlando, Florida, after a joyful weekend spent with his beloved son, daughter-in-law, and brother. Born on June 12, 1948, in Goshen, New York, John lived a life marked by unwavering kindness, dedication to family, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.
John earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Pace University, a testament to his drive and intellect. He proudly served in the Air Force for six years, achieving the rank of sergeant, a role that reflected his commitment to service and discipline. He embodied the essence of support and goodwill, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He continually sought to ensure the happiness and safety of his sons, Kyle and Jared. John relished every opportunity to watch his boys thrive, from cheering them on at sports events to sharing quiet moments together watching movies. His dedication extended beyond just watching; he actively participated in their lives as a troop leader for Boy Scouts and helped run the local soccer club. He often drove 45 minutes one way for Kyle’s soccer practice, a testament to his unwavering support and love.
John's generous spirit extended to the simple joys of family life. He cherished making ham salad with his family and found peace and contentment in sitting outside in the lanai with a hot cup of coffee, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the comfort of loved ones around him. His biggest heart shone through in every interaction, welcoming friends and family alike into his home, always creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and love.
He is survived by his two devoted sons, Kyle Totten and Jared Totten. He is also remembered lovingly by his brother Jamie Totten, and cousin Bonnie Totten. John will forever be missed by his family and friends, cherished memories mingling with deep sorrow at his passing.
John Joseph Totten, Jr. will always be remembered not only for his caring nature and the unconditional love he held for his family but also for the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. The world is indeed a bit dimmer without him, yet his memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched. He joins his parents, Joyce Totten and John Joseph Totten Sr., in eternal peace.
