John R. Tunstall passed away gracefully on March 12, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospice in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 77. Born on March 10, 1949, in California, John lived a full life filled with great adventure, enthusiasm, and love of family, friends, and nature.

John was predeceased by his loving wife, Maureen Howell Tunstall, of 32 years, and his loving parents Lt. Col. Francis and Mary Tunstall, and his brother Lt. Col. Francis Tunstall (Ellen).

John will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family. Dad to Joanna Tunstall Helms (Mike) by his previous marriage, and brother Louis Ruppert (Marion), and sister Ellen Rupport, and brother Al Tunstall (Cindy), and sister Mary Tunstall Staton (Bill), and Margaret Tunstall Ross, and many nephews and nieces.

John graduated Titusville High School before completing a Business Degree in Marketing from the University of Florida. His education and Military childhood experience laid the foundation of a life marked by curiosity, by passion to explore the world.

Once meeting, dating, and getting married to Maureen, John was delighted to be a devoted husband. Maureen and John's marriage went beyond husband and wife. They were also best friends and partners that shared the desire for constant adventures. To quote John, "we shared a wanderlust, born out of our individual childhood experiences as Military service BRATS (born, raised, and trained). Our childhood travels fed our insatiable need to explore the world together! "

Margaret, more than a sister, an incredible friend, an earth angel for her brother John. He would express his heartfelt appreciation for her unconditional support during the last few years of his life. As life became increasingly complicated, she embraced this season of his life with dedication and love. Margaret helped manage his care with great compassion.

John and his beautiful bride Maureen are now on their greatest adventure together. May God bless them on their way home! No formal services are planned. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Donations to protect the Indian River Lagoon (one lagoon.org) in Brevard County or Florida Wildlife Hospital (Florida wildlife hospital.org) will honor John's legacy of loving nature and Brevard County.

John Robert Tunstall will be remembered by those who knew him as a jovial man. A man who uplifted the atmosphere and reached for the brass ring. He always presented throughout life with a positive outlook and a friendly personality. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his loss.
