John (Jack) Girvan Watson Jr., 82, of St. Petersburg FL, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 60 years of Madeline (Matty) (Monty) Watson. Jack started his career as a toolmaker for over 30 years, he then became a police officer in Thomaston CT where he taught the DARE program until he retired. Jack and Matty owned and operated the Northfield Rest Home in Northfield CT where they treated all 10 residents as family for over 20 years. He was a life member as a Master Mason, life member and member for 52 years of the Waterbury CT BPOE# 265 serving as PER PDDGER, a life member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, Police Square Club, Kaabans Club, past President of the North Port Shrine Club, member of the Venice & Bahia Shrine Clubs, Englewood Masonic Lodge, and the Royal Order of the Jesters. Besides his wife, Jack leaves his children John G. Watson III, Thomas K Watson and his wife Heather A. Watson. He was a loving grandfather of John G. Watson IV, Angelo P. Watson, Kayleanah Hill, Leah Roach, Victoria L. Stephens (Watson) and husband Eric Stephens, Elisa C. Watson, Catriona L. Watson and great grandfather to Jordan G. Watson, Warren M. Watson, Rowen M. Watson and twins on their way for Victoria and her husband Eric. He was predeceased by his identical twin James H. Watson and leaves his sisters Barbara and her husband Steve Brittain, and Dorothy E. Watson, several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.The Watson family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of the Masonic Home of Florida for providing such loving care.A Masonic memorial service will be held at Farley's Funeral Home, 5900 S Biscayne Dr. North Port FL at 9am immediately followed by a church service at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port FL at 10am on Monday November 11, 2024.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jack's memory to the Masonic Home of Florida 3201 1st. NE St. Petersburg FL.
